I decided to make Monday Multimedia Day. Just for fun.
The first Multimedia Monday will feature my desk as it is on an average work day. Hectic, I can promise you that.
So here it is (drrummrolllll)

It’s a quick snap taken with my USB camera (note the USB Cable hanging in the air at the middle bottom of the picture) hence the iffy quality.
So a quick run-through of what you see here, from left to right.
- Large CRT screen belonging to my workstation. It is a XP Pro machine – runs Radmin to administer our webserver and our file server remotely. I also use it to access our in-house control system. My Laptop runs Office 2007 and out MS Access program refuses to run in it.
- In front of my keyboard you will see my Nokia 9300. An indispensable tool, I can even SSH from it if need be. I also used to VNC from it as well.
- My XP Pro laptop. It sports a Gentoo Background to annoy the Windows Fanboys. I use it as my workhorse when I am with clients. It dual booted Hardy until recently. Waiting for Intrepid Beta to arrive. Also has Radmin in case I need to tool around with our webserver while on the road.
- My Pentium 3 laptop I use for reviewing Linux Distros. Currently it is running Intrepid Alpha 2. I use Linux to SSH, and to troubleshoot various Networks. I also use it to administer our mail server (with a lot of guidance from Jaco Kroon I have to add) and a few other Gentoo boxes scattered around the country from time to time.
- On the right is the in-office server rack. There are four boxes running anything from a file server, a mail/proxy/firewall Gentoo box, a radius server and Trixbox, another Gentoo machine that runs our VOIP system.
- On the extreme left you would see my desktop PC itself. It is JUST out of shot.
So there you have it, a typical geek desk. Show me yours!
