As I noted before, I installed Intrepid Ibex for my wife over the weekend. In the process of re-configuring her interface I installed the WOT addon for Firefox.
Ever wanted to know if a site is a potential mallware installed waiting to infect your computer? Web of Trust will inform you, even before you click on the link.
I was so impressed that I installed it on my own browser, and it’s interface is extremely simple to use and understand.
First off, to the left of your address bar you will notice a circle with a blue Icon superimposed over it. The circle will change color between grey (not listed) to dark green (extremely safe) with hues of orange and red in between.
Whenever you do a google search, you will now see this same Web of Trust icon next to the search results, in differing colors, warning you of dangerous sites.
Should you get redirected to a dangerous site, Web Of Trust will block the site with a warning message, and offer you the opportunity of adding a whitelisting should you choose, getting out of the site, or continuing if you really want to.
This is something every web frequenter should definitely not browse without.
I rate this as one of the best Firefox addons I have yet come across.
