Hey Fred.

Thanks for your comments.

As to a forum where these issues are being discussed you could have a look at the Ubuntu forums http://ubuntuforums.org

Another good place to look is to subscribe to the Ubuntu Developers mailing lists, there you receive a periodic mail that describes changes and decisions made et al.

Another great blog to follow is http://omgubuntu.co.uk for a blog dedicated to all things Ubuntu.

My issue with the piece written by The Register is that it is filled with hype and sensation mongering. There are real concerns, yes - and it is great that they are voiced (I noted that in my blog post) but if you note the other upgrade experience indexes that I linked to it is clear that Karmic is not unique in its level of problems.

I am all for involvement, and I guess that The Register has contributed to the future smooth sailing for early adopters since I am sure that Canonical took note of the concerns raised.

Hope this helps and happy flossing!

ps: You can also contact other FLOSS professionals on floss.pro

Regards

I have been using free OSs for some 20 years now. So, this is not about "mine is better than yours". It is real frustration from a member of the family.

I found your blog while looking for equally frustrated people with upgrading to 9.10.

I am grateful to everbody in the community, voluntary or paid.

But I would like to find why some decisions were taken, such as not having an ".img" distribution for Netbook Remix, why defaulting to grub2 which is still buggy (failed on two of 8 upgrades I made), why choosing this gray initial screen instead of the traditional orange, why... etc.

Any links? Thanks!
Fred

I would like to find a forum where these decisions are being discussed.
