So no posts on Saturday.

I was working on the site, the Magazine for July and also thinking about advertising in the MAG and possibly on the site.

Let’s start with the MAG

SaGeek MAG July 2010

The main thing I have worked on is the page layout. I have been advised by several readers as well as experts in the industry that I need a fixed template for the magazine. One that makes it easier to read, is more beneficial to advertisers and easier for me to place my writing and pictures.

Between you guys and me I think it was a polite way of saying that my layout was a bit of a mess.

My Opinion piece for the July edition is basically done in concept, now just to get down to actually writing it. This month I deal with Consumers and Piracy. I interview a musician who uses computers and programs to make is music, you will have the opportunity do download a whole CD’s worth of his music!

Other MAG only goodies are forthcoming, more on that later in the month.

I removed one of the widgets from the sidebar that was really not adding anything to the user experience. Not a biggie, but I fiddled with the backend a bit and looked at the possibility of using a newspaper front-page to facilitate easy scanning of recent articles.

The MAG advertising is going okay. There is definite room for improvement, but it is still early days. I am exploring the possibility of advertising on the website, but my challenge is that I want it to be as unobtrusive as possible. The advertising, if any, will definitely need to add value to the readers of the blog, and yet also be of value to advertisers.

Right now the site is gaining a lot of readers, for which I am very greatfull and I believe advertisers will definitely gain value from advertising on the site. If you want to advertise contact me via advertising at (replace at with @… you get the picture. Heck, if you as a reader have some insights or comments re advertising on the blog you are welcome to let me know via that address as well, as always I value your input greatly.

Well that’s it for now!
