According to this story by the BBC, the UK is looking for cyber security experts. It seems the not-so-cold-cyper-war is heating up with the US also beefing up its cyber security infrastructure.

UK ‘misled’ on broadband speed
It seems that it is not only South Africa that is struggling with its broadband speed – in the UK’s case however, it is because users where misled on the quality of service they paid for.

UAE: BlackBerry a threat
NEWS24 brings us a story this morning about the UAE claiming BlackBerry devices are a security threat. I guess oppressive regimes are finding it harder to keep their populace under control these days, and they don’t like it.

Yahoo! Japan may adopt Google search engine
This is potentially huge – Yahoo! Japan is looking at switching their search engine over to the Google search engine. Unlike other Yahoo! search engines in other companies they are not obliged to use the Bing search engine. This is not the first time they switched search engines either.

Google steps up effort its effort to launch Google Music
The Google juggernaut keeps rollin’, and soon it will have a soundtrack. It seems that efforts to launch the Google Music service has been accelerated. Exciting times ahead indeed.

Wikileaks Afghanistan war logs leak: Irresponsible journalism or necessary exposure of truth?
Hmm. Wikileaks is taking a lot of flack about this. My personal opinion is that you cannot hide stuff like this for too long, bad things are happening and it needs to come to light. Now if only Wikileaks could get a source inside the Taliban or Al Qaeda…

“Sniff control” technology offers freedom for the paralyzed
A new way for paraplegics to control devices – “Sniff Control.” Actually better described as “Airflow Control” but I guess that “Sniff Control” is erm… fresher. One question – they describe the possibility for this to be used to steer a wheelchaire… yeah, what will happen when the chair builds up speed and airflow builds up around the device?
