We got this press release in our inbox today. Seems like there is a new HP (+Intel) competition out.

It boils down to having a picture taken of you hiding behind your HP Laptop, and then uploading this picture with the required message to the relevant Facebook page.

ReviewedI have been giving Apple products a lot of love this past month. Today SaBest handed me an iPhone 3GS to test, to coincide with their Facebook Post of the price drop on this model. It has been interesting spending some time with the iPhone.

not THE harddrive in question...…and the techs that hide behind them. YOU MAKE US ALL LOOK BAD! There, I said it. Just like the guy on his 50cc Suzuki who knocks mirrors off cars when he passes them make all bikers look bad, bad IT managers and the techs they protect make those of us wanting to do an honest job look bad.

The result is that “IT Guys” all over are generally mistrusted, derided and belittled. Thanks a lot guy.

Ipod TouchThe Apple iPod, the device that started a revolution… Looking at the review of the iPad I did recently I thought it’d be cool to do a review of one. Great was my surprise this morning when David from ThinkTank handed me one and said “Knock Yourself Out.” He just bought himself one, and was kind enough to let me try it out for a few hours.

Ipad ReviewSo here I am, Apple iPad in hand. Yes, I was lucky enough to be loaned an iPad from Online Stuff to review. I must say, it is pretty amazing. The iPad is very responsive, and browsing the web is a joy. Downside – I cannot blog from it. That is true for most mobile devices that I have tried though. What does the iPad offer in terms of real world benefits then?

I can’t believe I haven’t done this earlier, quite a few of my readers are pda or cellphone users after all. I have installed a mobile addon for Wordpress that renders my blog in a mobile friendly manner.

Ther are still some kinks to sort out, like right now I struggle to use html to insert a more tag and let my entries spill over more than one page.

Right now I am sitting outside the office, on a bench, with my laptop. This would not be possible had I been chained to a desk with a traditional PC. Other than specialised applications I think the PC is no longer the best tool for an IT professional. continue reading…
