I can’t believe I haven’t done this earlier, quite a few of my readers are pda or cellphone users after all. I have installed a mobile addon for Wordpress that renders my blog in a mobile friendly manner.

Ther are still some kinks to sort out, like right now I struggle to use html to insert a more tag and let my entries spill over more than one page.

Right now I am staring at the screen of one of my colleagues laptops. It says “Operating System Not Found.” I take a moment, and while writing another DVD to boot Windows 7 from (we have a download license thanks…) I decide to reminisce about working in IT.

Do YOU want to work in IT?? Here are some of the things you have to keep in mind. Really, this is a guide for every kid who is good with computers, but thinks his skills will be enough to help him through a career in IT. Two words: STUDY. HARD.

Right now I am sitting outside the office, on a bench, with my laptop. This would not be possible had I been chained to a desk with a traditional PC. Other than specialised applications I think the PC is no longer the best tool for an IT professional. continue reading…

What is The Next Big Thing?

With the world of tech being as it is, we constantly search for the next big thing. Whether it is the ultimate gadget, the life changing utility, that new social craze or something that saves billions of lives – we all eagerly await it’s arrival.

Well I have done some serious searching the intarwebz, reading books and watching online trends to figure out what will herald the next tech golden age.

As I walked in the door the owner of the company (a financial planning business) asked me to check why they had run through their local bandwidth so quickly.

What I found both horrified and amused me.

It is strange how the human psyche works. Ever since having children I have been deeply affected by the fate of children across the world. Even seeing a suffering child on the news has begun to upset me more than usual.

I decided to make Monday Multimedia Day. Just for fun.

The first Multimedia Monday will feature my desk as it is on an average work day. Hectic, I can promise you that.

Look, I am a patient guy. About as patient with non-geeks as a geek could be. So at the school where we installed the wireless network these past few weeks I generally enjoyed a pleasant rapport with the resident non-geeks.

Where I AM having problems though is with those who are better equipped than most to work with computers and networking, but who just don’t care to implement sensible practices or take responsibility for their property. In this case that would be the network we installed.

Right, I haven’t blogged in a while.

Working at Interexcel has really taken up a lot of my time, and I made a point of not touching the Laptop after work during week nights to ensure that I spend time with the family.

To add to my time away from them I am in Mafeking fairly regularly these past few weeks, and I had the pleasure of spending two days with a colleague and buddy of mine.

While working on-site we hatched a scheme to spoof the office from the site. It needed to be creative, epic and deniable. After a bit of throwing ideas around we hit on the perfect scam.
